Birds and Beasts
During this week the children will develop their observational skills in a variety of media from observational drawings to clay animals and clay-relief landscapes. They will also use their creativity and fire their imagination to create fantasy landscapes and creatures. The week also includes making puppets and performing a puppet show using their own characters. For all the days in this week there are extension activities in art and a variety of cross-curricular linked activities.

Colour in Autumn
This topic week takes the natural world as its inspiration; the children use autumn colours and textures in collages and in detailed observational paintings. They develop their skills and techniques in a variety of painting styles and learn weaving skills using a range of materials and unusual weaving frames. For all the days in this week there are extension activities in art and a number of cross-curricular linked activities.

Travellers
This week will take the children on a number of journeys, starting with a record of their own development involving self-portraits and clay-relief faces. The children learn about cave paintings as their imagination takes them back to prehistoric times to create their own cave paintings on paper and clay. The theme of travel continues as a railway journey provides inspiration for large-scale paintings of landscapes both real and imaginary. For all the days in this week there are extension activities in art and a variety of cross-curricular linked activities.
